Rev. Joy Comeaux, Senior Pastor
Joy Lynn Comeaux was born in Waukegan, Illinois, just north of Chicago. She moved to Louisiana in 1989 where she spent many years living in Ascension Parish. Joy has one daughter, Jacquelyn Strong, a 5th grade math and science teacher. Jacquelyn and her husband, Michael, live in Prairieville, Louisiana. Joy was working as a Patient Service Representative at Ochsner Health Center when she heard her calling and began her journey to ordained ministry. Joy received her baccalaureate from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2010. She received her Master of Divinity degree in 2013 from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. FUMC Gonzales is Joy’s home church where she volunteered in many areas and later served as the associate pastor for three years as a local pastor. Before serving at FUMC Gonzales, Joy served as a local pastor for two years at Huff Chapel UMC in Killian. Upon graduating from seminary, Joy served as a Provisional Elder at Carpenter’s Chapel in Prairieville for one year, and the Jackson-Ethel Charge for two years. She was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in 2016. She is currently in her fifth year serving Westlake United Methodist Church and the Westlake community in the Lake Charles District. Her passions in ministry are caring for and walking alongside those going through grief and difficult seasons of life, servant leadership, partnering with other churches and organizations to better serve the community, and doing hands-on mission work. Joy enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her granddog Boudreaux. She also enjoys playing pickleball and more recently she has begun kayaking.
Becky Castille, Administrative Assistant
Becky is a smiling face when you enter Pharr Chapel. Her hours are Monday - Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. She is happy to help!
Angie Champine, Youth Director
Angie has been the youth pastor since 1998. Her passion and calling is mentoring to young people and sharing Christ with them. She loves being outdoors and reading anything and everything.
Katy Felton, Children's Ministry
Katy is a special education teacher at Hatti Watts and is married to Davin. Her son, Bentley, keeps her on her toes. She enjoys partner leading the Children's Ministry program with her sister, Kristin.
Kristin Champine, Youth Ministry
Kristin earned her Master's in Psychology in 2019. She enjoys a good red wine, hiking and the family trait of being a Disney fan. She loves helping the little ones in getting closer to God each Sunday.
Shelby Roberson, Custodian
Shelby has a lot of experience in being a custodian coming from working at schools. He breezes in and out and takes care of our facility.
