Rev. Joy Comeaux, Senior Pastor
Rev. Joy Comeaux was born in Waukegan, Illinois, just north of Chicago, and moved to Louisiana in 1989. She spent many years in Ascension Parish, where her faith journey deepened and flourished. She has one daughter, Jacquelyn Strong. Jacquelyn and her husband, Michael, live in Prairieville, Louisiana.
Before entering the ministry, Joy worked as a Patient Service Representative at Ochsner Health Center. It was during this season of life that she heard God’s call and began her journey toward ordained ministry. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2010 and her Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, in 2013.
Joy’s home church is FUMC Gonzales, where she volunteered in many ministries and later served as associate pastor. Her pastoral experience also includes serving Huff Chapel UMC in Killian, Carpenter’s Chapel in Prairieville, the Jackson-Ethel Charge, and Westlake UMC in the Lake Charles District. She was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in 2016. Since 2021, she has served as pastor of Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church.
Joy is passionate about walking alongside those navigating grief and hard seasons, practicing servant leadership, engaging in hands-on mission work, and partnering with churches and organizations to serve the wider community. She treasures time with her friends and family — especially her grand dogs, Maverick and Rip.
Kriss Ralston, Administrative Assistant
Kriss is the newest smiling face when you enter Pharr Chapel.
Her hours are Monday – Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. She is happy to help!
Angie Champine, Youth Director
Angie has been the youth pastor since 1998. Her passion and calling is mentoring to young people and sharing Christ with them. She loves being outdoors and reading anything and everything.
Katy Felton, Children’s Ministry
Katy is a special education teacher at Hatti Watts and is married to Davin. Her son, Bentley, keeps her on her toes. She works hard to make sure Pharr Chapel’s little learners are learning about God each time they gather.
